Is U2 plotting a major comeback? According to several whispers, the iconic Irish band led by Bono could unveil a new studio album in the fall of 2026 and hit the road again in 2027. Here’s what we know so far.

Since the last world tour "The Joshua Tree" in 2019, U2 fans have been eagerly awaiting news. When is the band planning to take the stage again? And when will Bono and the others drop a new album? For now, nothing official. But according to some whispers, notably the site U2Songs, a new studio record is in the works and could arrive in fall 2026.

It should be noted that the Irish band’s latest record, "Songs of Experience", was released in 2017. The 14th studio album by U2, "Songs of Experience" was recorded at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, as well as in New York, Los Angeles and London. Boasting 13 tracks, the album includes the song "Get Out of Your Own Way" featuring Kendrick Lamar and the ballad "Summer Of Love", where the voice of Lady Gaga can be heard.

Beyond their forthcoming album, the U2Songs site reports that Bono and the band may hit the road for a major world tour. The run could kick off in early 2027, likely in South America. U2 would then head to Europe the following summer for a string of stadium shows. Some bookings have already been made in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. According to the U2Songs site, this potential global trek could extend into 2028.

For now, no official announcement has been made, but fans want to believe it! By contrast, the Irish band has recently made headlines by releasing "Days of Ash", a five-track, issue-driven EP that includes the track "Song of the Future":
