À la vie, à la mort is a unique cultural event taking place at the gates of the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, on Sunday June 25, 2023, between 3 pm and 6 pm. This festive and poetic event, proposed by Théâtre National de La Colline at the invitation of Wajdi Mouawad, is an unprecedented opportunity to pay tribute to the illustrious and anonymous talents who rest in this historic site, or elsewhere. It's a gentle, joyful moment in the open air, a breath of art and culture to celebrate the summer solstice.

On this beautiful afternoon, we discover a series of live performances:

  • Rock songs by the group Bernard, in tribute to the Communards,
  • Les Jeunes Reporters du théâtre, with actress Elena Borgogni, evoking the cycle of life,
  • Actors from the Jeune troupe de La Colline read texts by anonymous authors and Algerian opposition figure André Ali Mecili,
  • Hawa Diakité and Aïcha Euzet, the winning duo of the Bourse de Résidence d'Artistes, giving voice to the words of Senegalese riflemen,
  • Sébastien Kheroufi and Valéria Milewski reading hospital biographies by the association Passeur de mots et d'histoires,
  • Julien Andujar and Agnès Coutard from compagnie K622, offering steps choreographed by Mié Coquempot,
  • Wajdi Mouawad invites us to walk with the texts of Julien Benda.

Entrance is via the Gambetta gate at Père-Lachaise cemetery (rue des Rondeaux, Paris 20th), in partnership with the Mairie du 20e arrondissement de Paris. The event is free and open to all, and celebrates life, art and cultural heritage with poetry and emotion. A not-to-be-missed event for all lovers of culture, heritage and Parisian life.
