Adapted from Jacques Demy’s cult film, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort lands at the Théâtre du Lido, on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, from October 2, 2025 and runs through June 14, 2026. Powered by Michel Legrand’s original score, this musical show follows Delphine and Solange, two sisters from Rochefort who dream of Paris and of finding great love.
Hosted by Jean-Luc Choplin, this new production brings together each evening a large company of artists, singers, dancers and musicians, in a colorful, festive setting with a live orchestra.
This show is aimed at a broad audience: fans of musical theatre, nostalgia buffs of Jacques Demy's cinema, families seeking a cultural outing in Paris, visitors wandering along the Champs-Élysées, and international audiences thanks to English surtitles. The troupe's energy, the central role of dance, and the richness of the score also make it a compelling option for lovers of live performance.
The Young Girls of Rochefort revisits the plot of the 1967 feature film and brings it to the stage in a version designed for the Théâtre du Lido.
The production centers on Michel Legrand’s live-scored soundtrack, a core element of the experience, conducted by Patrice Peyriéras. The staging is by Gilles Rico, with Bruno de Lavenère on the set design and Alexis Mabille on costume design. The announced lineup includes Marine Chagnon, David Marino, Valérie Gabail, Juliette Tacchino, Sophia Stern, and Maïlys Arbaoui-Westphal, who will alternate in the various roles.
The show rests on a bright, joyful aesthetic, true to the pastel imagery associated with the film. The aim is to revive this hymn to lightness within a setting designed for the musical theatre. The spectacular and immersive space, between contemporary cabaret and the grand theatre, with an interior decor imagined by Alexis Mabille and a spectator journey that is particularly meticulous. The pages devoted to the venue, its foyers and welcoming areas describe a glamorous, warm, and meticulously crafted universe, conceived as a “show salon.”
This production sits within the Théâtre du Lido’s renewed direction, now devoted to major musical productions on the Champs-Élysées. Founded in 1928, the venue became a performance space in the 1930s and later gained fame for its dinner-and-a-show format before its most recent makeover. The building preserves a unique hybrid vibe, half amphitheater, half cabaret, while having been modernized to host grand musical productions under solid technical and stage conditions.
