Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater set to return to Paris in 2026.

After the 2024 triumph, the New York legend of modern dance returns to enchant Paris with two new programs: bridging heritage and creation, the must-see dance event of the season. The return ofAlvin Ailey American Dance Theater to Paris confirms itself as one of the major choreographic milestones of 2026.

After drawing more than 32,000 spectators across eleven sell-out performances in 2024, the prestigious New York troupe returns to the Palais des Congrès with a refreshed, daring, and deeply moving artistic vision.

Founded in 1958 by choreographer Alvin Ailey, the American company has built a repertoire that forges a dialogue between modern dance, jazz, ballet and African-American cultural heritage. For its return to Paris in 2026, it presents two alternating programs across seven performances.

For this new Parisian season, the troupe unveils a diptych program. The PROGRAMME A “AILEY LEGACY” celebrates the heritage of the repertoire through iconic works that have shaped the troupe's identity.

The PROGRAMME B “NEW WORKS”” ventures into contemporary creation with works never before shown in France. The through-line of the two programs, Revelations, remains the absolute masterpiece of modern dance. Created in 1960, this iconic ballet transcends cultural boundaries and, more than six decades after its premiere, continues to captivate audiences around the world.

The two proposals thus allow exploring different facets of the repertoire of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, ranging from works tied to the company’s history to newer creations. Revelations is the common thread linking the two programs.

At the Palais des Congrès de Paris, Ailey Legacy is slated for October 7, 9, 10 and 11, 2026, while New Works is on the calendar for October 8, 10 and 11. Each program runs about 2 hours and 5 minutes, with two intermissions included.
