Je m'appelle Asher Lev is the French adaptation of Aaron Posner's play, based on the novel by Chaim Potok. The play runs at the Théâtre des Béliers until May 5, 2024.

Je m'appelle Asher Lev runs at the Théâtre des Béliers, in the 18th arrondissement until May 5, 2024. The play, based on the novel by Chaim Potok and adapted from the play byAaron Posner, features three actors in a touching story.

My Nameis Asher Lev takes us back to the 1950s, to a post-war world. Asher Lev, who lives in Brooklyn with his family, has been drawing since he was a child. Living in a Hasidic Jewish family, his passion for drawing and his desire to make it his profession create tensions. Asher should return a rabbi, not an artist.

Directed by Hannah-Jazz Mertens, Je m'appelle Asher Lev brings together three actors: Martin Karmann (currently in No Limit) as Asher Lev, Guillaume Bouchède (seen in Berlin Berlin) as Asher's father and Stéphanie Caillol (currently in Histoire d'amour) as Asher's mother. The rest of the characters are played by the two actors playing the parents.

After a successful run at the Festival d'Avignon in 2022, the play returned in 2023 and played to sold-out houses.

Critically acclaimed, Je m'appelle Asher Lev runs at the Théâtre des Béliers until May 5, 2024.
