It has quickly become a must-see venue for all contemporary art lovers. The Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection adorns the Les Halles district, in Paris's 1st arrondissement, and hosts numerous artworks, exhibitions and events throughout the year.
This private museum was created around the collection of François Pinault, French businessman and art collector. In agreement with the City of Paris, the aesthete chose to exhibit his extensive collection in this former wheat market, which conceals sublime architecture. Jean-Jacques Aillagon, Managing Director of Pinault-Collection, hopes that " the Bourse de Commerce will be the place where the unforeseeable can become obvious, a revelation of creation in the making and a mirror of the world ".
In fact, the Bourse de Commerce houses more than 10,000 works by nearly 350 artists... And that's not counting the temporary exhibitions! Cartes blanches, monographs, group and solo exhibitions, as well as screenings, concerts and lectures: this art center lives to the frenetic rhythm of international contemporary creation.
The works of art are not the only treasures of this museum: look up, and observe thearchitecture of the place. You can't help but appreciate the monumental façade, the magnificent dome housing an impressive fresco, or the double-revolution staircase.
The Bourse de Commerce offers over 6,800 m² of exhibition space, as well as mediation areas and a restaurant by Michel and Sébastien Bras, La Halle aux Grains. Part of the permanent collection is displayed in seven galleries on the periphery of the rotunda.
The Bourse de Commerce is open Monday to Sunday, 11am to 7pm, and is closed on Tuesdays and May 1st. For night owls, a nocturne is held on Fridays until 9pm. In addition, a free nocturne is organized on the first Saturday of each month. Normal admission costs 14 euros for the full rate, and 10 euros for the reduced rate. Reservations are not compulsory, but are recommended.
To get to the museum, take line 1 (Louvre-Rivoli stop), line 4 (Les Halles stop) or lines 7, 11 and 14 (Châtelet stop). Come and discover this historic Parisian landmark, and the treasures it contains!
