The Louvre unveils new areas devoted to the discovery of Islamic arts within its Islamic Arts Department.

This September 2019, the Louvre inaugurates new areas devoted to the discovery of Islamic Arts within its very Islamic Arts Department.

These new areas are open thanks to support from humanitarian foundation Alwaleed Philanthropies and the long-term partnership between the two institutions aiming at reinforcing the cohesion between societies thanks to arts and culture.

Bigger, these rooms now feature a renovated reception area and a new temporary exhibition room enabling visitors to discover in an immersive and accessible way one of the world’s most prestigious Islamic Arts collection, helping to make the bridge between the different religions, cultures and countries.

These new areas will house – all year long – immersive and interactive exhibitions about the history and heritage of Islamic Art. The Centre d’Art de l’Islam [Islamic Art Center] already presents a large range of works and artefacts coming from a geographical area covering Spain and all the way to India, and it focuses on the evolution of Islamic Arts over the years.

So, let’s get a ticket and go discover these new areas, shall we?
