For its next temporary exhibition, the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace will be highlighting the Roaring Twenties, a period the museum was very familiar with, and the changes in aviation during this period, from October 24, 2023 to March 3, 2024.

The Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget takes you back in time to the Roaring Twenties! This new temporary exhibition, scheduled to run from October 24, 2023 to March 3, 2024, presents the arrival of aviation and airplanes in people's daily lives, during theinterwar period from 1919 to 1939. These few decades saw the advent of aeronautics and the modernity of aircraft to travel the world, changing our relationship with time and space.

The exhibition also explores the influence of aeronautics on the arts, cinema and even perfume, inviting visitors to put themselves in the shoes of someone living in the Roaring Twenties, just discovering these incredible inventions. This vision provides a fresh perspective on the rise of the airplane as both a means of commercial transport and an element of political domination. Many artists, like the famous architect Le Corbusier, used these flying machines to fuel their imagination and their representation of the world.

Visitors will be able to admire rare objects from the museum's reserves, presented to the public for the first time. Over an area of almost 1,000m2, a dynamic and entertaining scenography will invite you to travel through time, and through the air, among never-before-seen works of art, in the heart of a building that was itself quite familiar with this era, and on which many Art Deco relics can be found.

The first airlines, the race to set records, the emancipation of women through aviation, the myth of the aviator, political propaganda, marketing and the march to war: all these important subjects are brilliantly evoked in chronological order, to retrace a pivotal period for these great flying machines, which are now part of everyday life, but which were then a veritable object of power.

This large-scale exhibition is also suitable for families, thanks to a playful itinerary in the footsteps of Heli the bat, who guides children's discoveries. Workshops, planetarium sessions, themed guided tours and an evening film-concert accompany the public in this rediscovery of the Roaring Twenties!
