The Domaine national is celebrating its 400th anniversary with a brand-new exhibition, running from December 19, 2024 to March 30, 2025. Entitled 1624-2024, 400 ans Palais-Royal, this free exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time, exploring the Palais-Royal through the centuries.
As you stroll through the gallery and the Valois peristyle, you'll discover illustrations, documents and photographs from the period. These works show the Palais-Royal estate at every stage of its history, and always at the center of events that have marked Paris and France.
From the symbol of monarchical power to the French Revolution, from the cultural and commercial center of the early 19th century to the favorite meeting place of 20th-century artists, the estate has lived a thousand lives, a thousand identities. It has played host to great figures fromhistory and the arts, and has become a privileged place to live for local residents... Throughout its eventful history, the Palais-Royal has gradually carved out a place for itself in the daily lives and landscape of Parisians.
