This story, published in 1943, has been translated into over 600 languages and dialects, making it the most translated book in the world after the Bible.Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's poetic and philosophical tale, and his iconic character, appeal to young and old alike. The Little Prince is a major work of literature that continues to inspire generations, more than 80 years after its publication.
In the spring of 2025, from April 11 to July 6, the Little Prince makes a stopover in Paris. Come to theAtelier des Lumières to discover a new immersive exhibition designed to touch the hearts of visitors of all ages.
TheAtelier des Lumières invites us to immerse ourselves in the work of Saint-Exupéry: the writer's famous drawings and watercolors come to life on the walls and floor of the digital art center. The silhouette of the Little Prince, instantly recognizable, moves around us. We can admire the fox, the rose, the Earth's desert and the planets the Little Prince has visited... You might even catch a glimpse of a sheep, drawn somewhere...
This tale is as memorable for its words as for Saint-Exupéry's drawings. The entire work is featured in this exhibition. Its universality and timelessness are echoed in these colorful, childlike drawings and settings, which appeal to our childhood innocence and wonder.
Step by step, l'Atelier brings Saint-Exupéry's story to life, showing through the works selected how this tale has touched and inspired generations and cultures the world over. Voice-overs are added to the exhibition soundtrack, bringing the characters and the story to life and immersing us even further in this odyssey.
The art center takes us on a poetic, dreamlike and moving journey. Immersed in this story, visitors become silent witnesses to this epic, during which the Little Prince discovers the world, its difficulties, but also its beauties.
The staging of this Atelier des Lumières exhibition is particularly successful, and time flies. Younger visitors marvel at the drawings and sets, while older ones are carried away by the story. The exhibition adds depth and another dimension to the story. Emotions are heightened, and the stakes seem higher than in our childhood memories. And beware: if you're afraid of snakes, the one that appears in the desert might make you feel uncomfortable...
Despite the slightly nostalgic tone, the exhibition is still very funny: the combination of music and drawings produces unexpected but welcome comic effects.
In the first half of 2025, the Atelier des Lumières is also offering an artistic program based on Picasso and Douanier Rousseau.
