A world-renowned American artist, George Condo has made a name for himself thanks to his unusual and sophisticated graphic universe. In a career spanning more than forty years, this painter, sculptor and draughtsman has created numerous works, and participated in several group and solo exhibitions in various European countries and the United States.
From October 10, 2025 to February 8, 2026, George Condo will be honored in Paris. More precisely, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris is organizing a major retrospective dedicated to this artist, looking back on a long and prolific career, from New York to Cologne via Paris.
The exhibition features 80 paintings, some 20 sculptures, and 110 drawings in a special graphic-art cabinet. In all, over 200 works are presented in this retrospective, divided into several themes. This overview of George Condo's career and work highlights his depiction of the human figure, his extensive knowledge of and references to art history, and his connection with abstract art.
Indeed, George Condo imagines modern and contemporary works inspired by the great masters of European and Americanart history. Picasso, Manet, Flemish painters and Francis Bacon... The New York artist multiplies his references and demonstrates the extent of his knowledge in his astonishing paintings. He lays claim to this artistic heritage, the better to build his own universe.
The Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris is offering acomprehensive retrospective on this eminent contemporary artist. To be seen from autumn 2025.
