The Mysteries of Money: a special family package for the Cité de l’Économie’s interactive exhibition

From October 18, 2025 to March 8, 2026, bring the whole family to Citéco! For the first time ever, the Cité de l'Économie presents an exhibition entirely designed for children and families, Les Mystères de l'Argent, imagined and created at the level of children, aged 6 to 12.

In celebration of Grandmother's Day on March 1, 2026, each grandparent will receive a free ticket to the exhibition. An excellent opportunity for a fun and unique family outing.

What is money? Through an exhibition-game, the Cité de l'Économie answers children's questions about money: where does it come from? How do we get money? Why are there rich people and poor people? The Cité de l'Économie also looks back at the history of money since Antiquity, and the place of money today, in a truly entertaining and educational tour.

Children will be able to discover many fun experiments at this exhibition: learn how to make your own coins out of plasticine, solve calculations with a cash dispenser, take part in a role-playing game, manage a budget as a team or decipher a bill of exchange, during collaborative challenges and games of skill and observation.

While Citéco always makes a point of making its exhibitions fun, this one is particularly well-suited to children, answering all their questions about money on an adventure through time: Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the 19th century, the 1990s and the present day, in an immersive setting where you are sometimes invited to play the role of a character from the period. Children will have a field day, but adults too will be delighted.

It's a great way to understand theevolution of money, from bartering to bank cards, with different features for different ages, including visit booklets in which children can win a little surprise. Children are invited to handle a wide range of elements that will help them in their learning, even at school!

We love the scenography, which fully immerses visitors in the different eras and enables a real exchange between parents and their children.

The treasure hunt aspect of the exhibition makes it fun for everyone, but it's especially designed for children aged 6 to 12, although it's certain that young teenagers will appreciate it too. The program also includes film screenings and a"Fabrique ton billet" workshop on weekends, Wednesdays and during school vacations.
