Discover the art of drawing with a pencil in hand through engaging activities at Château de Vincennes, part of the Spring Drawing Festival, taking place on March 28th, April 24th, and 25th, 2026.

In 2017, the contemporary drawing fair Drawing Now Paris introduced a new annual highlight: the Springtime of Drawing. The goal? To spotlight French contemporary artists, showcase the world of drawing, and inspire both young and old to engage with this enduring, timeless art form.

Fast forward a few years, and here we are at the 9th edition of this national event, which brings together over a hundred participating venues, including museums, art galleries, monuments, libraries, and artist studios. From March to June, art enthusiasts and curious visitors can enjoy a wide array of exhibitions, hands-on workshops, lectures, meet-and-greet sessions, and performances of all kinds.

Across Paris and the surrounding Île-de-France, numerous sites are taking part in this cultural celebration. Just outside the city, Vincennes Castle has planned a series of inventive and engaging activities for young artists. This historic royal fortress is temporarily transforming into an art hub for a few days to mark the 2026 edition of the Printemps du Dessin. Find out what’s scheduled for March 28, and April 24 and 25.

Reservations are expected to open very soon on the castle's website. Check the official page for details on how to participate in these workshops.

The Spring Drawing Festival at Château de Vincennes: Program Highlights

  • "A Thousand and One Drawn Doors" Workshop at Château de Vincennes
Scheduled for March 28 and April 24-25, 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM
This workshop offers a playful introduction to drawing, encouraging participants to push beyond the castle's walls and invent new worlds! Starting from the symbolism of doors—once a protective feature in the Middle Ages, later signifying confinement when the keep became a prison—we invite visitors to open the castle's gates and craft new ones leading to imaginary realms. Guided by two illustrators, Marielle Durant and Mat Let, this is a chance to, alone or with friends and family, open up the castle to the world of today!
The artworks created will be showcased in an exhibition in May. As part of the Spring of Drawing, this event also paves the way for an autumn exhibition in 2026, exploring the symbolism of doors and windows around the theme: “Living: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.”

Don't settle just yet! There's still plenty to see and do in Paris and the Île-de-France region during the Spring of Drawing 2026.
