On the occasion of the Paris Design Week 2026, the Polish Library of Paris invites you to discover ALTAR, the first solo Paris show by brothers Mateusz and Robert Palucki, founders of Palucki Studio.
Set against the exceptional backdrop of the Polish Library of Paris on Île Saint-Louis, the exhibition pairs contemporary design, sculpture and Polish heritage. Through a selection of distinctive pieces, ALTAR unveils the artistic language the designers have forged: organic, biomorphic forms drawn from anatomy, the human body and the living world.
Palucki Studio’s creations sit at the crossroads of collector’s design, art and sculpture. Though conceived as functional objects, these furniture and utilitarian pieces carry a sculptural presence that redefines their relationship with space. Their forms—at times familiar, at times enigmatic—seem drawn from a timeless realm, difficult to pin to a single era.
With ALTAR, contemporary creation engages in dialogue with the history and architecture of the Polish Library of Paris, an institution founded in 1838 and housed since 1853 in its historic building along the Quai d’Orléans.
Choosing this setting gives the exhibition a special dimension: Palucki Studio’s contemporary works sit within a historically charged environment, creating both contrast and continuity between Polish cultural memory and new forms of contemporary creation.
Among the works on display, visitors will encounter Mother of the Light, Ossis Mirror, Sirène, Mystère and Vertebra, along with several pieces developed in collaboration with Tomasz Omachel and Katarzyna Krej.
ALTAR is presented as part of Paris Design Week 2026, from 10 to 19 September 2026. The show runs through 26 September 2026, and is also integrated into the France Design Week 2026 lineup, from 18 to 26 September.
It will also be accessible during the European Heritage Days, with a special opening on Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
This exhibition offers a chance to discover, in an emblematic venue of Polish cultural presence in Paris, a new generation of creators who blur the lines between object, furniture and artwork.
