This exhibition, titled Andy Warhol, the Line and the Image, shines a light on different, less familiar yet captivating works. The show brings together about 150 drawings, around a dozen paintings, serigraphs on paper and photographs, archival documents, videos, and scrapbooks. The itinerary is organized into several thematic chapters, offering deeper insights into Andy Warhol’s artistic world.

The Musée du Luxembourg shines a light on more than four decades of drawings and works, revealing both the consistency of motifs and themes and the evolution of the artist’s style. Visitors will encounter a self-portrait dating from 1942 and acrylic drawings created just a year before his death. Caricatures, genre scenes, portraits, advertising, decorative motifs—Andy Warhol produced a remarkably varied body of work throughout his life.

The wall texts introduce the different themes, but some works deserve a bit more explanation and analysis. The parcours is quite rich, and you’ll enjoy discovering these unexpected drawings; opt for guided tours if you really want to go deeper into the subject. The Luxembourg Museum is fairly small, and this show is likely to draw a crowd, so be prepared to wait before you can get close to the works during your visit.
