From October 17 to November 1, 2026, the Cité de l'Économie in Paris’s 17th arrondissement offers games, workshops, immersive tours and Halloween activities for families with children aged 6 and up.

What if the All Saints’ Day school holidays were an opportunity to explore economics as a family through games, puzzles and immersive experiences? From October 17 to November 1, 2026, the Cité de l'Économie, located in Paris’s 17th arrondissement, is offering an autumn program featuring creative workshops, guided tours, treasure hunts and Halloween activities.

Housed in the Hôtel Gaillard, a stone’s throw from Parc Monceau, this museum dedicated to economics welcomes visitors of all ages, offering a fun way to explore everyday topics. On Saturday, October 31, a special Halloween event will round out the holiday activities.

Scavenger hunts, workshops and immersive tours during the holidays

During the autumn holidays, the Cité de l'Économie offers several ways to explore economics beyond a traditional visit. Children can handle objects, use their imagination, solve puzzles and take part in group activities.

  • Ghost and candy hunt!: a scavenger hunt through the museum, suitable for ages 8 and up, Tuesday to Sunday during opening hours.
  • Make your own banknote: a workshop for ages 6 and up where participants discover the symbols and security features of money, then create their own banknote. Wednesdays and Saturdays at 3 p.m.; duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • Jeanne and the Quest for the Magic Remedy: a storytelling tour for ages 6 and up, featuring riddles and challenges that introduce the concepts of exchange and value. Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m.; duration: 45 minutes.
  • Eco Art: a creative workshop exploring economics, for ages 8 and up. Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.; duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • Augmented reality tour: an immersive experience using a headset to explore the site’s history in a new way, for ages 12 and up. Tuesday to Sunday at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., with an additional session at 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Duration: 45 minutes.

To discover the basic principles of economics, families can also take part in My First Steps in Economics, a guided tour for children aged 6 and up, on Tuesdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. A philosophy tour for families with children aged 6 to 12 is offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., giving everyone a chance to discuss and reflect together.

Eco-games to explore markets and finance

Older children and teenagers also have activities tailored to them. The Écogame – Market Game, suitable for ages 8 and up, helps them understand the dynamics of supply and demand by negotiating prices and commodities. This 45-minute game takes place on Fridays and Sundays at 4:30 p.m.

With The Wolf of Finance, participants aged 15 and up discover how financial markets work through a strategy game. Two sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 22 and 29 at 2:30 p.m., each lasting one hour.

Halloween at the museum: face painting, a ghost hunt and a concert on October 31

On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Cité de l'Économie is dedicating a day to Halloween, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Young visitors can come dressed as witches, vampires or other creatures, enjoy a face-painting and costume stand, and then take part in the ghost hunt organized at the museum.

The program also includes two cultural events to extend the day:

  • Symphonic Scares: a concert featuring young talents from the École Cortot, Saturday, October 31 at 5 p.m. in the Hall Defrasse. Suitable for ages 8 and up, duration: 1 hour.
  • Economic Chills: The Crises That Shook the World: a guided tour exploring major economic crises and how they work, Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 at 4:30 p.m. Suitable for ages 15 and up, duration: 1 hour.

With costumes, music and discovery, this day offers a chance to combine a Halloween outing in Paris with a museum visit, with activities for different age groups.

Hôtel Gaillard: A Castle-Like Setting for Discovering Economics

A visit to Citéco is also an opportunity to discover Hôtel Gaillard, a 19th-century building with neo-Renaissance architecture. Located on Place du Général-Catroux, this château-like building is now home to the economics museum.

A guided tour entitled Hôtel Gaillard: A Castle in the Heart of Paris offers a chance to explore the history and architecture of the site. It is offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:30 p.m., for ages 12 and up, and lasts one hour.

Visitors can also extend their outing at Inform Café, located in an inner courtyard, or browse the museum bookshop. Relaxation areas, a free cloakroom and baby carriers are also available for families.

The fall half-term program runs from October 17 to November 1, 2026, at the Cité de l'Économie, 1 place du Général Catroux, Paris 17th arrondissement. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., until 7 p.m. on Saturdays. It is accessible via the Monceau, Malesherbes and Pont Cardinet stations, among others.

Booking is recommended: details, prices and availability for the various activities are listed in the Cité’s official school holiday programme before your visit.
