In December 2025, the Atelier des Lumières brought dinosaurs back to life for a family-friendly immersive experience. This documentary exhibition is returning to the Paris digital art center from April 19 to May 3, 2026, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Then, through June 28, 2026, the show will be screened every Sunday.
No DeLorean needed to travel back in time: the Atelier des Lumières offers us an extraordinary journey to more than 66 million years ago to meet the dinosaures! This new immersive exhibition, created in collaboration with the studio Lightroom, takes us to the prehistoric era for a striking, up-close encounter with the dinosaurs that once roamed the planet.
Presented as a documentary, this educational exhibition brings to life the greatest creatures Earth has ever borne. Divided into several chapters, the experience follows various dinosaurs in their daily struggle for survival: we meet the T. rex on the hunt, the Isisaurus laying their eggs, the pterosaurs and velociraptors clashing... The exhibition Dinosaures, l'expérience immersive - Planète Préhistorique spans thousands of years of history, offering a broad view of these remarkable animals and a clearer sense of their lives.
This immersive journey uses images from the Apple TV documentary"Prehistoric Planet" to show moments in the "lives" of these extinct creatures, as if we were there. The exhibition explores the strengths and weaknesses of these large animals, their daily lives... We discover the birth of baby dinosaurs, their hunting techniques, and the environment in which they lived.
The research and work of scientists on fossils is highlighted to better explain what we know about these extinct animals. The voice of actorGérard Lanvinguides us on this fabulous journey through a lost world, narrating and explaining the history of these extinct giants.
Dinosaurs on land, in the water, or in the air, modern descendants of these creatures, and forgotten dinosaurs: the documentary exhibition explores a vast scientific field, while remaining accessible to children. What could be better than dinosaurs to enchant young and old alike this winter in Paris?
This experience at the Atelier des Lumières is very different from the exhibitions usually presented. Here, it is a real documentary, like those you might see on television. So you walk around among the images, as if you had stepped inside your television set. In fact, it is advisable to keep moving during the experience: the different spaces in the Atelier do not always display the same thing, and you may miss some information if you don't look in the right place.
In addition, the experience follows the patterns of classic documentaries: we witness scenes of hunting, reproduction... The scenes where dinosaurs fight and some are devoured may perhaps impress younger children. However, the exhibition remains entirely accessible to children.
The narration is easy to follow, and the information is clear and understandable. The content is aimed at the general public: dinosaur enthusiasts may not learn much that is new, but the experience is interesting, well-executed, andcompletely immersive.
Are you ready to visit the prehistoric planet, following in the footsteps of the dinosaurs?
