In 2030, Paris will inaugurate a free Pablo Picasso sculpture garden at the foot of the Musée National Picasso in the Marais district. In 2,300 m2 of greenery, a dozen emblematic works will be exhibited in the open air. What we know.

Attention art and greenery lovers: the Musée Picasso is taking its masterpieces out of the walls and planting them... in the open air! In 2030, a free bronze sculpture garden will be created at the foot of the museum, in the 3rd arrondissement. The first open-air museum dedicated to the Spanish master, it will be a natural extension of the installation inaugurated in 1985, which already houses the world's largest collection of his works.

In 2,300 m2 of greenery, the public will be able to discover a dozen emblematic creations, including the legendary "Chèvre". The project will merge the museum garden - as yet devoid of any Picasso works - with the neighboring square. Conceived as an "enchanted parenthesis in the heart of the Marais", this setting will enable visitors to play with the shapes and volumes of the sculptures, while children will enjoy the plant decor as a life-size canvas. According to Le Parisien, access will be free, in line with the opening hours of a public garden, but under the supervision of the museum.

While New York and Chicago already have their outdoor Picassos, Paris is catching up with this monumental brushstroke. The project also includes a new wing of the museum, doubling the temporary exhibition space to 800 m2, and offering a café-restaurant opening onto the garden, a bookshop dedicated to modern art, as well as innovative educational and mediation spaces.

Supported by the City of Paris, the Ministry of Culture and the Picasso family, with the backing of Paloma Picasso, this 50 million euro project, financed entirely by sponsorship, will begin in 2028. And the good news is that the museum will remain open throughout!
