From March 21 to July 19, 2026, the stunning photographs of Thibault Gerbaldi will be showcased on the fences of the Luxembourg Gardens in an open-air, free exhibition titled "Fragilities & Resilience." It's a chance to travel virtually to Mongolia, Iceland, Ethiopia, or the Peruvian Andes—all without leaving the heart of the capital!

Every year, as part of the Senate's cultural programming, the grounds of Luxembourg Garden host an outdoor photography exhibition. This year, the spotlight is on the work of photographer Thibault Gerbaldi. Mark your calendars for March 21st to July 19th, 2026, and head to the 6th arrondissement of Paris to enjoy his stunning images.

This new, free photographic exhibition titled "Fragilities & Resiliencies" features exactly 83 large-format photographs (120 × 180 cm), shot across five continents. Visitors can journey from the icy landscapes of Iceland and Mongolia to the lands of Ethiopia and Sri Lanka, explore the Peruvian Andes, Greenland, Indonesia, Namibia, Borneo, and even the vibrant scenery of Florida.

Thibault Gerbaldi's first solo exhibition in France, "Fragilities & Resiliences," offers a captivating glimpse into fractured icebergs, shifting dunes, volcanic landscapes, and coastlines shaped by the passage of time. These striking vistas invite viewers to embark on a sensory journey while highlighting the ever-changing beauty of nature in constant flux. Confronted with these natural forays and vulnerabilities, the exhibition also sheds light on the resilience of cultures facing climate upheavals, social shifts, and demographic changes.

Photographs serve as a lasting link between people and their environments, while also prompting us to rethink the concept of vulnerability. They aim to uncover the strength found in ingenuity, transmission, and resilience. “My goal through this project is to encourage a calm reflection on fragility and resilience, challenge our preconceived notions, and deepen our perspective. I seek images that resonate as much as they are seen, leaving space for each viewer to interpret in their own way,” explains Thibault Gerbaldi in a statement.

Each photograph is paired with a brief accompanying text. Through these, visitors can learn more about events such as the blessing ceremony for alpacas—an ancient ritual performed to ensure the health of the herd in the Peruvian Andes—or gain insight into the everyday life of the yak herders of Altai.

If you're headed near the Luxembourg Gardens, there's a free outdoor exhibition you definitely shouldn't miss! The stunning color and black-and-white photographs not only captivate the eye but also inspire us to reflect on the beauty of our world — a beauty worth protecting at all costs.
