It's a landmark date for all U2 fans! On September 25, 2026, the iconic Irish band marks its 50th anniversary! Indeed, it was on September 25, 1976 that the group led by Bono formed in Dublin. Since then, U2 has released 14 studio albums, including the iconic "War". Released in 1983, this third album includes the global hits "New Year's Day" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday".
Almost ten years after their last studio album, Songs of Experience, fans are hungry for a new record and a global tour. In the works for the music side, the Irish band is poised to drop a fresh album soon. On July 7, U2 unveiled the track Street of Dreams, the first single from their upcoming release.
Fans are eager to see Bono, The Edge and the others back on stage very soon, performing their new material alongside a clutch of classic hits.
In the meantime, U2 is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in grand style! In Paris, an exhibition will spotlight the Irish band for the occasion. Entitled "U2: an Irish Story. Mythic after 50 Years", this showcase is not to be missed from September 23 to December 18, 2026 at the Irish Cultural Centre.
So what can you expect? Fans of the band and the curious alike will be able to explore a collection of photographs, “in the spirit of Paris Match’s grand photo essays,” as announced. Note that the renowned French weekly is organizing this event in partnership with Tourism Ireland. Texts will also accompany these large-format images. As with all exhibitions at the Irish Cultural Centre, this one will be completely free and open to everyone.
