Two Swedish painters, two takes on the landscape: with Soleil et Lune. Andreas Eriksson in dialogue with Ivan Aguéli, the Swedish Institute presents their works side by side from 20 October 2026 to 10 January 2027. This free admission exhibition can be discovered at 11, Rue Payenne, in Paris’s 3rd arrondissement.
The exhibition route juxtaposes Andreas Eriksson’s earth-toned, vegetative palette with the landscapes of Ivan Aguéli, a painter and traveler who disappeared in the early 20th century. On one side, work rooted in a precise observation of place; on the other, painting tied to the artist’s journeys. The confrontation on offer centers on how each approaches nature, light, and the sensations they awaken.
Curator Sara Arrhenius, director of the Swedish Institute, guides the dialogue. A book released alongside the exhibition features the works of the two artists and includes a text by the curator.
An English-language conversation between Andreas Eriksson and Nicolas Gausserand, exhibition curator and head of contemporary art at the Musée d’Orsay, is also announced for Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Admission is free, subject to availability.
The exhibition runs Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 to 19:00, with a Thursday late opening until 21:00, in line with the hours announced by the Swedish Institute. A free cultural outing in the Marais, exploring two different approaches to landscape painting.
