The Palace of Versailles stands as one of France's true treasures: it's unthinkable to allow this historic masterpiece to fall into disrepair. Join us in celebrating the master artisans dedicated to preserving our heritage during the European Crafts Days on April 11 and 12, 2026.

The métiers d'art bring together a variety of professions and craft skills, linked to art and the use of ancient, cutting-edge techniques. These artisans contribute to the preservation of our physical heritage, as well as our intangible heritage. They are the guardians of a part of French culture. There's no doubt about it, when you see the craftsmen who take care of the Château de Versailles.

Masons, stonemasons, upholsterers, restorers of all kinds: thanks to them, the Sun King's castle retains its lustre and shine, to our great delight.

To showcase these professionals and give us a glimpse of their skills, the European Heritage and Craft Skills Days were created. On April 11 and 12, 2026, thousands of sites across France and Europe will open their doors—often free of charge—revealing a hidden side of our cultural and artistic heritage.

The Château de Versailles is also taking part in the event, offering a variety of events for the curious. Visits and meetings are open to the public, to highlight the people who contribute to the preservation of the monument. Please note that admission to the château is subject to current admission charges.
