In Seine-et-Marne, set in a verdant valley on the banks of the Grand Morin river, Domaine Bois Brillant marks the rebirth of a historic vineyard, reconnecting the surrounding area with its winegrowing history. Today, visitors can enjoy guided tours of the vineyards, and discover every step of the way, right up to the tasting of wines from the Ile-de-France region.

Believe it or not, it's possible toenjoy wine tourism in the Paris region and visit vineyards. To the east of Paris, near Coulommiers in the Pays-de-Brie region, an astonishing family estate in Seine-et-Marne is reconnecting the region with its winegrowing past, and putting the spotlight back on Ile-de-France wine. It's Domaine Bois-Brillant Guérard - Vigne EnVie.

It's one of the few vineyards in the Paris region. It's the fruit of a gamble by Daniel Kiszel, a passionate oenologist who decided in 2002 to take over this historic site that had been abandoned. One thing led to another and the family estate grew, acquiring adjacent land as it went along. Here, wine is produced according to the principles ofbiodynamic agriculture, and to help the vines thrive, we make sure to create an entire ecosystem that will naturally act in symbiosis with the plans, right down to the choice of fruit trees - there's very little left to chance.

This is precisely what makes a visit to the Bois Brillant estate, accessible to the general public, so fascinating. You'll stroll through the various vineyards, with an explanation of the methods and history of the vineyard, oenology and much more. Signs here and there share philosophical or mischievous quotations that add to the charm of the place. Along the way, you'll come across familiar grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as rarer and historic vines with fascinating histories.

Following this verdant stroll, you'll find yourself inside the winery to learn more about the methods and stages of wine maceration, before finishing the tour at the estate 'sVigne EnVie boutique to taste three wines, or apple juice for minors. And, depending on your budget, you can also enjoy a tasting of some of our grands crus. The whole experience will have the merit of shattering preconceived ideas about Ile-de-France wines, and of restoring the reputation of this terroir which is on the verge of re-emergence, as Guérard wine has now obtained its IGP. During our visit, we'll learn thatÎle-de-France was once the largest wine-producing region in the world.

These tours are aimed at both connoisseurs and the curious, and should delightwine lovers, of course, but also heritage and botanical enthusiasts. Beware, however, that there's a bit of walking involved, and be careful on the way up: the estate is on a slope. It should also be noted that the premises can be privatized for a seminar, an EVG/EVJF, or even a wedding. If you don't have a car, you can reach the site by bike from Crécy-la-Chapelle station.
