The Chevreuse Valley, located in the Yvelines region, is a protected area just outside Paris. It stands out as one of the most remarkable rural and forested regions in Île-de-France. Established in 1985, the Regional Natural Park of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse aims to safeguard the valley’s cultural heritage. Visitors can explore a wealth of cultural treasures, alongside stunning natural landscapes that are equally enchanting!
The Chevreuse Valley offers a rich tapestry of landscapes. From expansive agricultural plateaus to the so-called "confidential valleys," 90% of the area is covered by forests, natural spaces, and farmlands. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking along nearly 300 kilometers of marked trails, renting electric bikes to navigate the valley’s varied terrain, exploring horse-riding trails at local equestrian centers, visiting several ponds and nature reserves, and discovering numerous farms throughout the region.
The Chevreuse Valley is also steeped in history. Notably, it is home to the Château de la Madeleine, a fortress that has overlooked the village for over a millennium. Visitors can also explore the Vaux de Cernay Abbey (currently undergoing renovations until spring 2024) and the Petit Moulin de Cernay.
