A few kilometers from Paris, in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuses (78), lies a house like no other: that of Marta Pan, sculptor, and André Wogenscky, architect and collaborator of Le Corbusier. In 1952, the couple acquired a plot of land and designed a modernist villa open to nature, where volumes and light celebrate both art and architecture.
Wogenscky's first personal project, the house illustrates the clean, bold lines of 50s modernism. Marta Pan exhibits her sculptures in wood, marble and steel, while André designs living, working and leisure spaces. Their artistic complicity gives rise to a unique cross-fertilization of work, in which architecture and sculpture interact harmoniously.
Since 2011, the house and its 7,000 m2 park, home to some twenty sculptures, have been managed by the Marta Pan - André Wogenscky Foundation, which preserves and promotes the couple's work. Open to the public on certain Saturdays, it offers an hour-and-a-half guided tour by a guide from the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. The Foundation publishes and distributes Marta Pan's creations, develops educational initiatives for young people and students, and collaborates with visual artists, choreographers, architects and historians to foster reflection on contemporary creation.
