Be careful not to confuse the two: we're talking about the Jardin-Musée Bourdelle in Egreville, not the Musée Bourdelle in Paris. Yet both places pay tribute to the same man: sculptor Antoine Bourdelle!
The Art Deco-style Musée-Jardin Bourdelle houses 57 bronze sculptures, most of them monumental, tracing the development of the work ofAntoine Bourdelle (1861-1929). Never been there? That's about to change, thanks to Rendez-vous aux Jardins, an annual event offering a wide range of activities in the gardens of the Ile-de-France region, to help the curious rediscover these verdant places and the little creatures that inhabit them.
The idea is simple: each year, just as summer begins, this cultural event highlights botanical heritage, especially around Paris, with a diverse lineup of activities. Over the years, it has become a favorite for guided tours, concerts, workshops, and even rare openings to the public in normally restricted venues. Mark your calendars—next year’s edition will take place from June 5 to 7, 2026.
Guided tour of the garden and works of Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929). Moments for tactile engagement will alternate with descriptions of the garden. The visit will conclude with a tasting break and the chance to smell the garden’s plants. The 7,000-square-meter garden is flat and organized with pathways. Some braille booklets and raised drawings are available at the reception.
The museum's garden was designed by Michel Dufet, son-in-law of Antoine Bourdelle, and restored by Françoise Phicquepal in 2025. Its Art Deco style gives it a French formal garden feel, with a harmonious blend of geometric shapes and elegant lines.
The theme of "The View" is perfect for this garden, with its wide expanses of color serving as a backdrop for 57 artworks, including some monumental pieces, created by Antoine Bourdelle. A student of Rodin and a teacher to Giacometti, Richier, and Maillol, Bourdelle is regarded as one of the most influential sculptors of his era. His style is rooted in an architectural approach to sculpture, deeply inspired by ancient Greek and Roman art traditions.
### Argentine Concert Featuring Instrument Demonstrations by Ninon Valder
The Bourdelle Departmental Museum and Garden showcases one of Antoine Bourdelle's masterpieces (1861-1929): the equestrian statue of General Alvear, unveiled in Buenos Aires exactly 100 years ago.
To mark the occasion, the museum hosts En Mi Corazon, a concert by Ninon Valder. Ninon’s musical journey is as unique as it is impressive. She was trained by renowned interpreters across various genres — classical flute with Cécile Daroux and Jacques Riou, Argentine music with Juan José Mosalini, Dino Saluzzi, and Colacho Brizuela, vocals with Martina A. Catella, and jazz with Sylvin Marc and Carine Bonnefoy. She holds first prizes in chamber music and flute from Nantes Conservatory, a bandoneón diploma from Gennevilliers Conservatory, a jazz Performance Master’s from Leeds College of Music (UK), and an engineering degree from the Louis Lumière National School of Higher Education.
