Buoyed by the success of the 2025 edition on how plants were used in the Middle Ages, this year we explore their role in the Renaissance.

Specializing in medicine across the ages, Scalpel and Matula brings medicine, surgery, and the apothecary to life through period-costumed demonstrations and workshops.

With our garden as a backdrop, the presenters will show you how Renaissance plants were used to treat ailments, care for appearance, or simply stay healthy.

You’ll also have the chance to make a small salve or a sachet of medicinal herbs.
