After last year's award for the GR de Pays route around Suisse Normande in Calvados, the Fédération Française de Randonnée has just revealed the eight trails in the running to become the 2024 edition of France's favorite GR.

For the sixth time, the Fédération Française de la Randonnée pédestre (FFR) will have the honor of electing France's favorite long-distance hiking trail (GR) for2024. After rewarding the GR de Pays, which circumnavigates the Suisse Normande region in 2023, the Grand Pic Saint-Loup long-distance hiking trail in the Hérault region in 2021, and the GR 340, which circumnavigates Belle-Ile-en-Mer (Brittany) in 2022, it's now up to you to vote for the eight long-distance hiking trails eligible for the title of France's favorite GR.

This year, the FFR is proposing eight lesser-known itineraries, less famous than the GR 20 in Corsica or the GR 21 in Normandy, for example, to help you discover the heritage of our beautiful French regions. So, all you have to do is choose between the GR de Pays de la Montagne de Reims, to discover this regional nature park in Champagne, the GR37 to discover the heart of Brittany from the beautiful department of Ille-et-Vilaine, the GR de Pays des Maîtres Sonneurs in Indre, or the Tour des Monts du Beaujolais in Rhône... Also in competition are the GR 4 linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean in Charente-Maritime, the GR 440 offering a walking tour of the Montagne Limousine in Corrèze, the GR 367 following the Cathar trail in Aude, and the GR de Pays through the perched villages of Haute-Siagne in the Var.

If you're not familiar with them, we suggest you visit the French Hiking Federation website to take a look, perhaps consider doing one of these hikes and, above all, vote from November 14 to December 5, 2023 for your favorite GR!
