Free guided tour of an archaeological dig site at Montreuil-sur-Epte (95)

If you're an archaeology enthusiast, you're about to visit an archaeological dig site in the Paris region - and that's not so unusual! The Service départemental d'archéologie du Val d'Oise invites you to discover the covered alley of Copierres in Montreuil-sur-Epte during the excavation that will take place from late July to early August 2025. Come and discover the secrets of this 5,000-year-old prehistoric monument on Friday August 1!

This remarkable collective tomb, which has yielded numerous artefacts and bones, is open to visitors on a guided tour, free of charge! You can observe the history and architecture of this megalithic burial site, as well as the methods used by archaeologists to study it, over the course of an afternoon, at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm, for almost 40 minutes. To get there, go to the start of the access road to the covered walkway to the south-east of Copierres, up the rue des Fontaines.

Walking shoes and hats are highly recommended, but please note that the tour may be cancelled depending on weather conditions.
