Under normal circumstances, you’d take the RER B to get there, but when the weather is inviting, an outdoor itch sets in... and if we rode to Sceaux by bike? Located in the Hauts-de-Seine department, this pretty town is one of the nicest places to wander, especially within the Domaine départemental de Sceaux, more commonly known as the "Parc de Sceaux", spanning 180 hectares and conceived by André Le Nôtre. This magnificent French formal garden, famed for its cherry tree meadow celebrated each year during Hanami, with its cascades, its statues and its small basin where you can go boating, is one of the region’s loveliest spots.
To combine discovering the Île-de-France region with a bike ride, you can reach Sceaux Park from Montparnasse station in Paris! Indeed, you head straight onto the Coulée verte du Sud parisien, a marked and secure cycling route that winds through Malakoff, Bagneux and Fontenay-aux-Roses for about fifteen kilometers, and even farther if you press on to Massy (91). Part of the Véloscénie, the long cycling itinerary linking Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel, this green corridor in the South of Paris is especially pleasant and accessible for all levels, including beginners and kids.
