The Filmmakers’ Bistrot: the hidden bar at Cinéma des Cinéastes

Hidden bars always have a certain charm. After the one tucked away in a laundromat or in a pizzeria, discover the one nestled inside a cinema!

After three months of renovations, the Bistrot des Cinéastes reopened its doors at the start of March 2017, unveiling a brand-new look, a refreshed bar, and a new menu!

To get there, you’ll need to bypass the reception desk at the Cinéma des Cinéastes and climb a few steps to reach, on the building’s first floor, the famed Bistrot des Cinéastes.

On either side of the room, two sumptuous frescoes signed Tofdru catch the eye.

Between them, a number of chairs and tables, with a cosy little corner at the back, surrounded by greenery.

The imposing bar also makes its presence felt. But what can you drink there? The bar menu spotlights a number of refined brews, including a few house creations.

Having cut his teeth at the Hôtel du Fouquet’s and the Westminster, the young and very friendly Chef Barman will, for example, whip up an excellent "Call My Agent" made with Hendrick’s Gin, Cointreau, lemon juice, cane sugar, and sour cherry liqueur.

Also succumb to "The Artist," a cocktail built with amber 3 Rivière rum, almond liqueur, egg, and cocoa.

Calvados lovers will also be pleasantly surprised to discover a selection of this famous spirit, as well as two cocktails based on Calvados: the "Calva Tonic" and the "Serendipity" (Calvados aged 6 years from Manoir d’Apreval, Pommeau de Normandie aged 12 months, and Brocard Brut Champagne).

Beers, soft drinks and wines complete this fine menu.

To pair with these drinks, the Bistrot des Cinéastes sticks to affordable dishes you can tuck into quickly before or after your screening.

The menu features a range of "tapas" — burrata, broccoli velouté, tartines, and more. You can also opt for the daily salad or a charcuterie and cheese board.

Cinephiles, local residents or cocktail enthusiasts, guests gladly gather there every evening from 6 p.m.—so why not you?
