It's Thursday evening, and for some people, Thursday evening is like a preview of the weekend. So we take the opportunity to look for a nice spot for an aperitif or after-work drinks. It's a great way to live the Parisian dolce vita week after week. If you're lookingfor a plan to live it up like Emily in Paris, in a setting that's both chic and relaxed, then listen up: in the heart of the capital, not far from the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre Museum, rumor has it that a gourmet aperitif with live music is held every Thursday evening in the setting of a beautiful Parisian hotel.
These are the Apéros du Louvre: every Thursday evening, from 6 p.m., on the heated and enclosed terrace of the Hôtel du Louvre brasserie, you'll find a tapas menu specially designed for the season, with musicians wandering among the tables and interacting with guests in an atmosphere that combines elegance with a great vibe, overlooking the Place du Palais-Royal and the Louvre Museum.
During our visit, singer Maroua, accompanied by musician Ghali Hadefi, set the mood with international classics and more modern songs: something to suit everyone and get all the guests dancing.
For the holiday season, lovers of seafood s should be particularly tempted by this concept: a real bargain, with oysters at €1 each (fine No. 3 from Brittany), excellent sea urchin tarama, and crab rolls with plenty of crab meat that isn't overpowered or drowned in sauce.
This menu, created in partnership with L'Effet Mer, even allows you, if you're curious, to try somesurprising pairings with oysters. Forget the classic shallots and wine vinegar, this is the time to experiment: we tried a sweet and sour soy sauce with ginger, lime, and yuzu, shallots with cider vinegar, martin sauce (a chili pepper) and honey, and even smoked cider vinegar.
Purists who prefer to savor their shellfish plain are of course free to enjoy them au naturel, but if you have to choose just one, we highly recommend trying them with fine Vietnamese pepper, which perfectly enhances the taste ofthe oyster. If you feel like coming back down to earth, summer truffle cheese gougères, hummus, guacamole, and other delicacies are also on the menu.
Although this is an aperitif with live music, the atmosphere is more relaxed than festive and dance-oriented. Les Apéros du Louvre is somewhere in between, offering an evening that is both relaxed and lively, where you can sing along to catchy tunes without dancing on the tables. Don't be shy about singing along with the artists: it's a bubble of conviviality in the heart of Paris as seen in beautiful films.
