For several months now, 42, rue du Chemin Vert has been transformed into a vegan den. Here, no milk, honey or leather, only animal-friendly products. And, by extension, the environment and social ethics, thanks to a choice of responsible brands.
The cosmetics are cruelty-free (in other words, they're not tested on animals), the shoes are made of imitation leather and tofu is the king of the menu... Which, if prejudice is anything to go by, is not for the skinny!
Just because we eat responsibly doesn't mean we have to be bored chewing salad... Here, the key word is comfort food, in other words, gourmet food. On the menu: naughty toasted clubs, trendy full bowls, cheesecakes that would bring New York to its knees, and a Chocolate peanut butter fudge that has become an unmissable bestseller in just a few weeks. (Gluten-free options available for when you're on a diet).
As for the decor, regressive armchairs await you behind glass painted by a young Parisian artist. On the wall, rap album covers stand alongside green plants, not far from a free photo booth and a selection of cutting-edge sportswear. The space is very bright, and the atmosphere lends itself equally well to chatting, reading and nomadic work.
In short, this new hippie Eldorado has the allure of a trendy hotspot, embodying the very contemporary popularity of the vegan way of life: whatever your dietary persuasion, you'll be seduced, believe it or not, our long experience as Parisian backpackers!
