The Gatsby evenings at the Ritz Paris revive the Roaring Twenties in the Salon Vendôme, with live jazz, dancers and a menu by Chef Jérôme Legras. The dinner-show returns on Thursdays September 17, October 22, November 19 and December 17, 2026. We tried it, and here’s what we thought.

We were lucky to experience a Gatsby night from the inside at the Ritz Paris, and I’ll always remember the moment the entire room rose to dance. Good news: the 1920s dinner-show at the palace on Place Vendôme, in the 1st arrondissement, returns this autumn to the Salon Vendôme. Four Thursdays are scheduled for 2026: September 17, October 22, November 19, and December 17.

The program features a welcome glass of champagne, a menu crafted by Chef Jérôme Legras, and a dancing evening to the sounds of live jazz. All set against a feather-and-sequin backdrop that pays homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald, the author of The Great Gatsby and a longtime regular at the house.

The Ritz and Fitzgerald, a long-standing Parisian tale

At 15 Place Vendôme, Fitzgerald’s shadow has never quite left the scene. The American writer frequents the hotel in the 1920s, during Paris’s heyday as a magnet for a generation of artists crossing the Atlantic. He even makes the Ritz bar a fixture in the opening of his short story Babylon Revisited, published in 1931, in which his protagonist returns to Paris after the 1929 crash.

The palace today dedicates a F. Scott Fitzgerald Suite to him. And to go even further back in time, our article on the Ritz Paris, the timeless legend of Place Vendôme, recounts the house’s history.

What is the dinner-show like at Salon Vendôme?

To reach the Vendôme Salon, you ascend a marble staircase that already serves as a curtain-raiser. The space used to welcome the Ritz Club’s night owls, the hotel’s nightclub. Here, it captures the spirit of the grand dining-and-dancing soirées of days gone by.

The immersive experience hits its stride within minutes. Service unfolds like a choreographed ballet: staff cross paths without ever getting in anyone's way, and dishes arrive with clockwork timing. A singer, four musicians and two dancers roam from table to table, staging intimate scenes and inviting guests to join the dance floor.

Our favorite moment is precisely when the dancers come to fetch guests from their tables. We hesitate for a second, then let ourselves be swept along between courses. We came to watch a show, and suddenly we’re part of it.

Ostrich feathers, sequins and gilded foliage dress the room, under soft lighting with a pink-tinted glow. The decor leans into glamour without tipping into costuminess, much like a well-poured glass: it sparkles without spilling over.

What’s on the menu at the Ritz’s Gatsby evenings?

On the plate, Chef Jérôme Legras reimagines the great dining rooms of the 1920s with a five-course menu, preceded by a glass of champagne. In the early editions, the sequence mirrored the flow of period dinners, from frivolities to the entremet, via the consommé and the main course. As the menu was crafted for the occasion, it can evolve from season to season.

Expect 325 euros per person, according to the Ritz’s booking page. A price tag that relegates this outing to special occasions. Here you get one complete package: the setting, the service, the cuisine, and a live show that fills the entire evening.

What to wear for a Gatsby-style evening at the Ritz Paris?

A chic outfit is requested. You’re not obliged to turn up in a fringed dress or a three-piece suit, but playing along heightens the fun: a bow tie, a feather headband, or a splash of sequins are enough to slip into the atmosphere. And as the dancers invite you onto the floor, it’s wise to pick shoes you can dance in all night long.

To book, visit the Ritz Paris Gatsby Nights page, email restauration@ritzparis.com, or call 01 43 16 33 74. Cancellations are free up to 48 hours before the date. Be sure to mention any allergies or dietary restrictions at the time of booking, and note that pets are not accepted.

The palace is just a few minutes’ walk from the Tuileries, Opéra, and Pyramides metro stations, tucked between the Tuileries Garden and the Opéra Garnier. It invites a brief stroll around the Vendôme Column before ascending the marble staircase.

Our take on the Gatsby Nights at the Ritz Paris

We leave this evening feeling as if we’ve stepped into a novel rather than just a dinner. The teams are fully invested, the staging is impeccably crafted, and the pace never lets up. It’s a beautiful interlude for anyone who loves Parisian spots steeped in history, literature, and live performance.

These evenings are for couples hoping to celebrate a milestone or special anniversary, for groups of friends ready to dust off the sequins, and for anyone who’s dreamed of stepping back into the Roaring Twenties for a night. A few caveats: the price tags it as a premium night out, the events land on Thursdays (plan for a relaxed Friday morning), and the participatory format means you’ll need to go with the flow.

If you’d rather discover the palace in a quieter setting, the Ritz Paris tea time by Olivier Lainé offers another entry point.

And how to keep the Roaring Twenties alive in Paris?

To keep the swing alive on a different kind of budget, head to Montparnasse for the Paris Folies du Dancing de La Coupole. Beneath the brasserie opened in 1927 in the 14th arrondissement, these retro dance nights fuse live music, tap performances, and burlesque shows in an Art Deco setting. Be sure to check the upcoming dates on the La Coupole events page before you go.

Craving jazz in a stylish setting? Le Melville, a jazz club, bar and restaurant in the 8th arrondissement, is a standout address you’ll want to bookmark to keep enjoying the pulse of Parisian swing.
