When fashion runs hot, it rolls out the ice-cream cart. From June 29 to July 11, 2026, a free ice-cream distribution will set up in front of the new Ami Paris store, at 4, place des Victoires, in the 1st arrondissement. In partnership with the Italian brand Sammontana, the operation accompanies the opening of this new Parisian address.

In front of the shop, the setup signals a summer pause: high tables, parasols and an ice-cream cart stage a terrasse éphémère ouverte aux passants. You can snag a glace offerte, while supplies last, for a frosty detour between Les Halles, the Palais-Royal and the shoppers’ streets of central Paris.
The fashion-and-ice-cream pairing isn’t new to turning heads with a scoop. In 2025, Valentino Beauty had already offered free ice cream at a summer pop-up.
On the ice-cream counter, Sammontana brings an Italian twist. Born in Empoli, in Tuscany, in the late 1940s, the brand started as a family gelateria before becoming one of Italy's leading ice-cream names, notably with its family-sized formats like Barattolino.
A seasonal pick to snag a few minutes of cool in the heart of Paris, before pressing on under the sun.
Our take:
On paper, the promise is mouth-watering: a free ice cream in the heart of Paris, just when the thermometer climbs. In practice, the operation is a bit less frosty than it sounds. To claim your pot, you first scan a QR Code, provide your name, surname and email address, then pick your flavor. The ice cream is free, yes, but not entirely without a catch. It’s a give-and-take, and these little formalities may put some people off.
Once you’ve filled out the form, the reward arrives in a pot, not a cone. You get one scoop per person, of a decent size—neither tiny nor overly generous—topped with a chocolate medallion engraved with the brand logo. Note also: the offer is limited to one ice cream per person. Nothing unusual in principle, but the on-site reminder came with a rather ungainly “don’t come every day” line.
As for flavors, the first week includes lemon, pistachio, chocolate and vanilla. The second week switches to lemon, vanilla, strawberry sorbet and nocciola (hazelnut). On tasting, no complaints: the ice creams are creamy, silky and well-flavored, with the dense texture typical of Italian gelato. Quality is up to scratch.
Yet the setup remains very simple. A small kiosk is installed in front of the shop, on Place des Victoires, with five standing counters sheltered beneath large white parasols. The spot lets you enjoy your ice cream for a few minutes, but don’t expect a proper relaxation area or any special entertainment.
If you’re passing through the district and you don’t mind sharing your email address, it’s worth a detour for the ice cream’s quality. On the other hand, if you were hoping for a truly free-for-all distribution with no preregistration, it’s best to know what to expect before queuing.
