Are you passing through the Gare de l'Est and looking for a good place to eat? Let's head to the restaurant of the Le Grand Quartier hotel, located in the 10th arrondissement, to discover chef Thomas Coupeau's new menu, as tasty as it is regressive. "Introduced to cooking at an early age in his parents' Vietnamese restaurant in La Rochelle", the chef, a Carbon defector, draws his inspiration from street food and other Parisian bistros.
A comforting menu for this winter that should warm the stomach! This menu can be enjoyed at any time of day, thanks to the variety of dishes on offer, whether for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner. For savoury dishes, there's gnocchi, tarama, button mushrooms and dill; endives, pears, blue cheese and popcorn; boiled eggs and grilled cheese mouillettes; crepes filled with béchamel, soubressade and scarmozza; a nice slice of celery pie with mustard and pickles; or Filet o fish, seaweed tartar sauce and old cheddar.
On the sweet side, gourmets will be delighted by a brioche perdue with a scoop of fromage blanc ice cream, or a chocolate fondant with melilot-infused vanilla ice cream. A menu we were able to try in its entirety. On the savory side, everything is quite fine and the mix of genres is really interesting. Special mention goes to the boiled egg and its grilled cheese mouillettes, but also to the filet o fish and the filled crêpe, which is as regressive as you could wish for. For dessert, we loved the brioche perdue with figs... A real treat!
A fine gourmet address that we can't recommend highly enough. Let's go and discover the menu, friends?
