The truffle is one of the gourmets' greatest sins. This exceptional dish is regularly found on the menu of good Parisian restaurants, to the delight of aficionados. If you are looking for an address with a good quality-price ratio and where you can find this mushroom with such a pronounced taste at the heart of an inventive cuisine, then head for Truffes Folies.
This warm address with a bistro spirit awaits you just a step away from the Champs-Elysées, in the rue de Berri. With its old-fashioned mosaics, refined furniture, comfortable benches and open kitchen, the address reminds us of the old-fashioned charm of the capital while preparing us to savor a modern and committed gastronomy imagined by the chef Nicolas Orlando.
On the brick walls, the shelves are full of delicatessen products around the truffle, no surprise, but also bottles of wine so that you can extend this experience at home. As an aperitif, you can even try a wine cooked with truffles or the special cocktail of the house with this famous wine whose production process remains a secret, passion fruit, champagne and of course some shavings of our star mushroom.
The menu features recipes that change with the seasons, with products that come from short circuits. Depending on the time of year, the star of the menu changes according to the season: from the black truffle of the Périgord or Burgundy to the white truffle, passing by the summer truffle, it is a real seasonal dance that is lived here. We love the excellent value for money of the address which also offers a lunch menu at 19€, also valid on public holidays, including a choice of pasta of the day with truffles or truffle brouillade and a coffee (count an extra 6€ for the gourmet coffee).
As a starter, the egg casserole is a gourmet favorite with its truffle-infused cream, mixed with the egg white for a smooth and airy consistency, as well as its runny yolk as we like. If you want a lighter introduction, the grilled zucchini rich in flavor with fresh goat cheese and truffles, all topped with a parmesan crumble will win you over.
During our visit, we found an ultra comforting menu for the winter, featuring the Perigord truffle. For the most gourmands, the beef Rossini with its well seasoned foie gras, its cooking, recommended rare and well controlled, its crushed potato with a touch of acidity and its forgotten vegetables is a must.
As for the lovers of maritime flavors, you should not miss the grilled octopus with its melting flesh, accompanied by a butternut cream for a comforting note in this winter season. Shavings of fresh truffle cover these two dishes and the flavors are mutually sublimated by this exceptional dish. The beautiful presentation of the dishes is equal to the tasting that follows.
The truffle remains the star of the menu until dessert with a very hearty truffle tiramisu (be sure to save room for this sweetness if you have a bird's appetite). Our favorite is the French toast-like brioche resting on a generous bed of salted butter caramel, and a surprisingly light truffle ice cream, whose subtle notes are perfectly suited to this delicacy. You don't know what to choose? Then without hesitation, we recommend you to go for the Café Gourmand which will allow you to taste these two desserts in addition to the crème brûlée... with truffles of course.
