It’s been months that barman Nicola Battafarano has been polishing his cocktail list at Lutetia Bar Joséphine. He weighs, rebalances, changes an ingredient here, a syrup there.
And voilà, the brand-new cocktail list of the hotel is ready to be sipped by esthetes and original and inventive cocktail fans.
Let’s have a seat in this wonderful bar named after the inimitable Josephine Baker, a great guest at Hotel Lutetia during the Roaring Twenties. As a souvenir of these past times, a huge and magnificent painting covers the walls and the ceiling of the bar from 1910 and found under eight layers of painting.
On the menu, we discover then 7 cocktails and 3 mocktails named after songs by Josephine B. The choice wasn’t easy and to find them, Bar Joséphine teams spent months listening to the artist’s repertoire and choosing the titles that make them vibrate the most and echo the content of the glasses.
Let’s discover these new cocktails together:
Here, cocktails are not based on 15 ingredients. Pairings are simple, four ingredients for each, that’s it! But these mixes work so well! Pairings are very well-thought up!
In each cocktail we find a very original element: sweet potato foam, shiitake mushrooms that give some depth to the mixture, French toast, celery… and so on and so forth.
As for us, we love the intense Bye Bye Black Bird, the creamy Pretty Little Baby and the Paris, Paris. Fair, balanced cocktails inviting us to rediscover Josephine Baker’s repertoire and taking us back to the Roaring Twenties.
