It's been almost 30 years that Coffee Parisien has settled in rue Princesse in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. And we have to say that it’s an institution in the neighborhood. In the meantime, the decor has been modernized but the regulars remained. It's easy to juge it when we see the crowded sunny terrace on a September Monday for lunch.
When it opened in 1990, Coffee Parisien is the only American diner in Paris. The cult dishes on the menu exist since this period when all Paris come to eat, seated on its leather bench seats.
In the kitchen, everything is homemade, based on fresh products from small producers. For instance, the meat comes from the Elysée Palace official supplier, buns come from a baker, eggs are organic and the cream comes from a 3-generation dairy. In other words, you'll have only good things in your plate, even though we're not here to eat healthy, and it's good!
As a starter, we have guacamole nachos (€10), very generously covered in melted and runny cheese, and Buffalo Wings (€9) which are chicken wings marinated in thick and sweet BBQ sauce. That's a perfect starter!
Then, since we're eating in an American diner, we go and try one of the burgers on the menu. Hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken burger, Obamac burger (the house's famous double-cheese burger)... We finally go for the original pulled pork burger (€16) with pulled pork (that is more thinly sliced than pulled), cilantro, onions and cheddar.
On the other side of the table, we have the bagel pastrami deluxe (€15) which plating is a bit messy and doesn't do justice to the tasty pastrami inside that pairs with mustard - of course - melted cheese, because there's never too much cheese and grilled onions.
For all those who watch their figures, you can skip the melted cheese and order healthier dishes such as vegetarian bowls, avocado toasts and poke bowls, grilled vegetables or even tuna and half-cooked salmon. There's something for every appetite!
We wrap up our meal with some tasty ice cream, crumble or even a delicious cheesecake. Speaking of desserts, note the place is open all day long from noon to 11 p.m. with free Wi-Fi available. Come and enjoy a delicious milkshake or a nice waffle in the afternoon!
Note that every day - and it's perfect if you like it - you can brunch at any time during the day. Yes! Detox juice and fresh and homemade fruit juice, organic eggs, bagels, waffles, pancakes and other addictive treats await. Let's treat ourselves and share a nice moment, without fuss and with good company!
In other words, a lovely spot where we can relax and enjoy!
