Pierre Hermé has opened a spacious café on rue de Grenelle, in the heart of Beaupassage, Paris's secret food passage. This café-tea room awaits us every day from 10am to 8pm, in a large, luminous space decorated by Laura Gonzalez and a terrace overlooking a pedestrian street, with no noise pollution!
Following the opening of 86Champs on the Champs-Elysées in December 2017, this café-boutique is the pastry chef's second. You can come here for lunch, a coffee, or to buy the chef's takeaway pastries !
When we asked him why tearooms? Pierre Hermé told us:"I'm very interested in the world of the Barista, because it's a profession that's very close to the pastry-making profession, and complementary to it. Because when you want to enjoy a pastry, what goes well with a pastry is tea or coffee". And of course, we agree with him. Nothing beats a nice, cosy space for a good gourmet moment.
Pierre Hermé breakfast
For breakfast, Pierre Hermé offers classic viennoiseries, Ispahan croissant (2.4€), kougloff (4.20€), granola, fromage blanc and fresh fruit, accompanied by teas, delicious coffees or a Chocolat Chaud at 12€. Note that the offer is not the same as at 86Champs : we were disappointed not to find the Cascaccino (cappuccino with cocoa nibs) or the mogador hot chocolate.
For a breakfast fit for a king, the Parisian breakfast formula includes fresh fruit juice, a hot drink and your choice of viennoiserie (treat yourself and try the gianduja pain au chocolat, the Ispahan croissant or the knockout Kugelhopf) for 14€!
Pierre Hermé's lunch menu
At lunch, you'll melt just looking at the menu, with its emphasis on vegetables, legumes and proteins, accompanied by wines or non-alcoholic cocktails. Right from the start, you can't decide between the Quinoa Salad, Teriyaki Marinated Tofu, Pomegranate Seeds and Baby Herbs (14€) or the Organic Madagascar Shrimp, Cucumber Tagliatelle with Coconut Milk, Grapefruit and Fresh Coriander (15€). Then, Ceviche de daurade aux agrumes (19€), volaille de Bresse rôtie, caviar d'eggplants (21€) and salade de crabe, pamplemousse, avocat et coriandre fraîche (28€) promise a fine meal.
Children can join us for lunch, with a 17-euro menu that's sure to please. Choose from spaghetti bolognaise, roast chicken with French fries or croque-monsieur, all of which make you really hungry and are rewarded with two macaroons or a couple of ice creams.
Pastries all day long
All afternoon, Pierre Hermé treats us to his finest pastries, ice creams and drinks created with the finest ingredients, accompanied by macaroons for a truly delicious break!
We've got the iconic Ispahan macaroon (lychee, rose, raspberry), the 2000 feuilles (a millefeuille with hazelnut praline, yes, yes!), the Ultime (a delicious, creamy cake with Pure Origine Bélize dark chocolate from the Xibun plantation, and vanilla), but also our Chocolat Chaud Infiniment Chocolat, our café Iapar Rouge du Brésil (fruity, creamy and chocolaty) and our couple glacée Ispahan!
Pierre Hermé's tea-time
Gourmets will even dare to take the Fetish Tea Time, featuring Ispahan and Infiniment Chocolat flavors. For 70 euros for two, you can share a crazy feast. Even the table is too small to accommodate the Ispahan pastry, the Carrément Chocolat pastry, the 2 Ispahan macaroons and 2 Infiniment Chocolat macaroons, the slice of Ispahan cake and Praliné & Chocolat cake, the Ispahan croissant, the pain au chocolat & gianduja and the 2 non-alcoholic Ispahan cocktails and Infiniment Chocolat hot chocolates to go with it all!
Feel like it? Reserve your table now!
