Auguste, so is the name of the latest creperie open by BléNoir in Paris in the Beaubourg area. Set a stone’s throw from Centre Pompidou and the Stravinsky fountain, let’s go and enjoy nice buckwheat pancakes and crêpes in a wonderful, modern and trendy setting.

We know you all love a good crêpe! It’s part of the charm of Paris and it’s even more with Auguste, the latest modern creperie open by BléNoir this past September after Hippolyte, barely a year ago in the 9th arrondissement.

Set right next to Centre Pompidou, in the Beaubourg area, and the Halles to discover this creperie that is set in a lovely pedestrian street, the Rue de Saint-Martin. It’s in tribute to the wooden covered market [‘halles’ in French] built by Philippe Auguste (King of France) in 1183 that this restaurant is named so.

At BléNoir Auguste, no more traditional Breton atmosphere, but a modern, revisited 50’s vibe to feel like eating in a genuine restaurant and not an average creperie. Clean design with an arty touch, design lights, cozy leathered chairs and velvet armchairs, large main bar, marbled and golden table, wooden floor and wood on the ceiling, it creates a trendy and warm atmosphere.

In the plate, we have recipes that are finely polished and made with fresh and quality, local and organic products. At Auguste, everything is homemade.

The day we came, we tried the rolls, rolled and toasted crêpes like an appetizer to choose between chorizo and salmon, so good. We enjoy them along with a good glass of cider to select among a thoroughly selected list and some farm apple juice, this is what heaven looks like.

As for me, I chose the Epinard d’Olive [Olive Spinach] with coppa, emmental cheese and creamy spinach, while my +1 went for the original pizza-like buckwheat pancake with cheese, ham and olive, but based on a buckwheat pancake. Crispy and tasty, we ate them without any problem.

There’s no creperie without a crepe for dessert. I choose the lovely chocolate duo, banana and poached pear, while my friend – more reasonable – goes for the dark plus chocolate and desiccated coconut based on buckwheat. Very smooth pear and delicious chocolate, the crepe remains pretty light.

At the end of the day, we have a charming creperie, perfectly located, and a tasty meal that doesn’t feel heavy on the stomach.
