Located on the Place du Trocadéro, between the Musée de l'Homme and the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, this museum is often overlooked. And for good reason: it has been closed since 2017, for renovation. After lengthy renovation work, this museum has finally reopened its doors, becoming one of Parisians' new favorite cultural venues.

The Musée National de la Marine is located in the heart of the Palais de Chaillot, adjacent to the Musée de l'Homme. A place ofart andhistory, but also a place of science, it tells the story of France's maritime traditions and adventures. The Musée National de la Marine is one of the two oldest marine museums in the world!

The Musée de la Marine takes us on a unique voyage of discovery of the sea, its seabed and squares, its flora and fauna, the ships that cross and explore it, the men and women who live there, and its role in our environment...

Over a thousand pieces and works of art have been restored and showcased in this new exhibition: you can discover and admire scientific and technical objects, models, paintings, decorative objects, photographs, sculptures, furniture... The marine world has fascinated and inspired many artists and engineers.

The museum is also highly immersive, immersing us completely beneath the waves: at the start of the visit, we enter the bow of a ship, and set off to explore the different worlds on display.

The tour is divided into different areas: ship models and shapes, the art of navigation, naval sculpture, French ports and the maritime economy. Temporary exhibitions also allow visitors to explore certain themes or artists related to the sea.
