"1,2,3, Nagez! is a program born of a simple observation: in France, 48% of children entering 6th grade don' t know how to swim, a figure that rises to 60% in Seine-Saint-Denis. Knowing how to swim is certainly a good thing, as it enables them to enjoy swimming and other leisure activities all year round, but above all it prevents drowning. And children from disadvantaged backgrounds have more difficulty accessing swimming. Conducted as part of Paris 2024, since 2021 this action has made it possible to offer free swimming lessons, in mobile pools or swimming pools, particularly in Île-de-France!
This new edition welcomes 38 projects to pass on the pleasure of swimming to over 20,000 children across the region. These mobile pools are set up during the summer in areas where there is a lack of swimming facilities, and are in addition to existing swimming pools, which are often impractical for learning to swim, or closed during the summer. As every year, children with disabilities will benefit from extra support.
Developed over the summer period, this program offers fun activities for children who don't go on vacation, but can also take place beyond the summer, depending on the location, to learn to swim all year round.
