Following the enormous success of the latest editions, which drew hundreds of swimmers to the Bassin de La Villette, the French Swimming Federation is launching the new edition of the EDF Aqua Challenge on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in the Bras Grenelle, recently inaugurated for swimming in the Seine. Three open-water swimming races, open to all, await you opposite the Eiffel Tower!
This marquee stage was first proposed in 2016, in the wake of the French open-water swimming team’s return from Rio for the Olympic Games and to back Paris’ bid for the 2024 Olympics. In 2026, it is linked to the European Swimming Championships 2026 in Paris—dates and a second round of ticket sales.
Please note that reservations are required in advance, but registration is open to people aged 12 to 99. Don't worry, it shouldn't be too cold in the water this weekend, as the Seine is often at the right temperature in summer. If you'd like to come and cheer on the swimmers, you can stand on the banks!
So, are you up for a dip in the Seine?
