Math lessons are rarely appreciated by schoolchildren... Or their parents. Yet this scientific discipline can be fascinating, full of surprises and even fun! This is what the Maison Poincaré, the mathematics museum in Paris, aims to prove. With its educational trail, fun workshops and exhibitions, this unusual museum aims to reconcile the curious with mathematics, and help us discover the unsuspected secrets behind numbers and geometric figures.
So it's hardly surprising that the Maison Poincaré is taking part in the 2025 edition of the Fête de la Science. This family event highlights all scientific disciplines, innovation, researchers, their discoveries and technologies, through activities, games, tours and exhibitions designed for young audiences.
The next Fête de la Science takes place from October 3 to 13, 2025. As for the Maison Poincaré, it's opening its doors free of charge on October 11 for a day unlike any other at the museum. Here's the program for this not-to-be-missed autumn event in Paris.
In the main gallery, the link between mathematics and other sciences - physics, biology, computer science, sociology... - is explored through the theme of crowds and fluids. Games and interactive manipulations are offered to help visitors understand ubiquitous mathematical techniques such as the notion of scale.
Free of charge, subject to availability.
In the historic Jean Perrin amphitheater and its passageway, which have been preserved in their original state, discover the importance of collective work and the various ways of advancing mathematical research, whether to solve problems or build new theories.
Free of charge, subject to availability.
In the main gallery, the link between mathematics and other sciences - physics, biology, computer science, sociology... - is explored through the theme of data. Games and interactive manipulations are on offer to help you understand ubiquitous mathematical techniques, such as the basic principle of artificial intelligence: data separation.
Free of charge, subject to availability.
How can a computer become a champion strategy player? Discover reinforcement learning, the principle behind the algorithms that enable computers to outperform humans at strategy games like chess and go. Without using a computer or programming language, you too can become an unbeatable machine at a simple game, Nim's game!
Free of charge, subject to availability.
Spread over 900 m2 in the heart of Paris, the Maison Poincaré aims to showcase the influence of mathematics on our society and our everyday lives. Visitors can learn about the work of today's researchers and explore the history of mathematics across cultures and the arts. At the Maison Poincaré, everyone is invited to ask questions and share the pleasure of understanding mathematics!
Free of charge, subject to availability.
Last admission at 5.15pm.
