The Fête de la Science is the perfect opportunity for children and adults alike to take part in fun activities and learn about biology, chemistry, archaeology and scientific investigation from professionals. For a whole week, you can take advantage of open doors at Parisian universities, science-related museums and other institutions to expand your knowledge.
Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades was founded in 1927, merging Hôpital Necker, dedicated to adults since 1778, and Hôpital des Enfants Malades, created in 1801 as the world's first pediatric hospital. Today, Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades has 580 beds, mainly dedicated to pediatric care.
It is home to numerous research units whose excellence contributes to the Hospital's reputation and results, and which came together in 2014 to form the Imagine and INEM institutes, created to advance science and transform knowledge into solutions to healthcare challenges, particularly around pediatric cancers and genetic diseases.
We invite you to discover the mysteries of the cells that cause cancer. Where do they come from, and how can they be eliminated? Plunge into the heart of cancer research by observing these very special cells under the microscope.
On the eve of Science Day, a strange epidemic suddenly strikes the Necker hospital. Several patients present severe unexplained symptoms, and some succumb. The microbiology team is called in urgently. Can you identify the cause and save the party?
Before starting their experiment, Alice, Léo and Solène want to check that their mice really do have the bacteria they want to study. But to their surprise, other bacteria have also found their way into the mice's intestines. Find out how to recognize bacteria by eye (or almost) and investigate to identify these visitors. Can you identify the person responsible for this contamination?
Dive into the world of genetics! Come and extract DNA with chronic kidney disease researchers. A fun activity to discover this molecule common to all living beings, and understand how it helps us better study, diagnose and treat kidney disease.
Proteins are biological molecules that perform numerous functions to keep our cells healthy. Come and discover a technique used daily in our laboratory, which enables us to separate and analyze them. This method uses antibodies to reveal the mysteries of proteins, offering a detailed insight into the cellular machinery.
To mark the Fête de la science 2025, the Institut Necker-Enfants malades is opening its doors to you for days of exchanges and discoveries around biomedical research: Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., days dedicated exclusively to schools (booking required). Morning and afternoon slots will be available. Small groups of students will be formed and will participate in all workshops. Saturday, October 4, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (free admission with on-site registration at reception or reservation by e-mail)
Young and old are invited to go behind the scenes of biomedical research with those who carry it out on a daily basis, through interactive workshops and fun experiments. Come and discover how scientists study cells, microbes or rare diseases, and how this research contributes to the care of children today and tomorrow!

Admire the beauty of organ structure and cell dynamics during an exhibition of our finest photos and videos, then rediscover everyday objects in a new light thanks to our digital microscope and a fun quiz.
A unique visual and educational experience not to be missed!
Scientists are like artists, making amazing connections that lead to incredible discoveries. Join us at the Readymade-Art-Lab to explore the fascinating tools and laboratory materials used by scientists in their experiments. Together we'll create unique art objects from laboratory materials, which you can take home to dazzle your friends and family!
In this workshop, we'll discover together how hygiene influences the proliferation of micro-organisms. By observing cultures taken from our hands, shoes and other surfaces, we'll see the impact of different cleaning methods. A fun game will enable us to guess the origin of the samples, to better understand the public health issues at stake.
