The Château de Maisons in Maisons-Laffitte is offering workshops and fun activities during this new edition of Contes et Histoires, running from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026. This program is sure to delight families during the Christmas holidays in the Yvelines!

The Château de Maisons, located in Maisons-Laffitte in the Yvelines (78), invites you to discover a program specially designed for families, as part of the Contes et Histoires 2025eventorganized byMonuments Nationaux. This year, this magnificent castle steeped in history is filled with the magic of the holiday season: discover themed activities that will delight young and old alike.

The Château de Maisons is a true 17th-century masterpiece, a "Versailles before Versailles." It is in this dream setting that families can stroll from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Take advantage of these very special days to discover this exceptional residence, but also to have fun! 

Once again this year, the castle enchants us with its fun and magical events, which appeal to children and parents alike. For this year's edition, the monument is putting the spotlight on music, with two not-to-be-missed events.

Here is the program for these magical days at the Château de Maisons :

  • Royal hunting party
    Come hunting with our storyteller at the Château de Maisons!
    The Count of Artois, Charles Philippe, buys the Château de Maisons. The brother of King Louis XVI wanted an estate where he could hunt. With his horses, dogs, and falcons, he traveled long distances in the nearby forest of Saint-Germain. From room to room, visitors learn about the prince and his passions, discover the animals he hunted, listen to their stories, and try to help them hide from the hunter.

  • The manners and etiquette of the Count of Artois
    Come and prepare yourself to meet the king at the Château de Maisons!
    Rubbing shoulders with the king's brother's entourage requires a mastery of etiquette and the art of courtly behavior. How should one behave, dress, hold a conversation, and conduct oneself at the table? Good manners are on the agenda, with the customs of yesterday that gave rise to the politeness of today. During a discovery tour of the castle's salons, the art of living in the 18th century will turn you into a perfect courtier who practices the subtle art of reverence in an unusual and fun etiquette class.
