Parc Astérix welcomes Egypt and its new attraction: OzIris

Parc Asterix returns with a bang on April 7. After last year's arrival of Lutetia Plage, Asterix continues to innovate with a new universe for 2012: Egypt!

Yes, after Rome, Gaul, the Greeks and the Vikings, let's make way for Egypt, echoing the indisputable success of the famous"Asterix and Cleopatra" comic strip. After 2 years of intensive work, this new universe is finally open to visitors.

For the record, the opening of Egypt means a 2.5-hectare expansion of the park, i.e. 10% more surface area. No less than 20 million euros were required to complete this project, which is reminiscent of the famous cartoon strip. A truly Pharaonic project carried out by a passionate team of over 300 men and 30 different trades, who certainly needed a bit of magic potion to finish on time!

So, now you can't wait to find out what Egypt and its flagship attraction OzIris has in store for us. OzIris is a new kind of attraction that's sure to surprise many. Imagine your feet in the air at a height of 40 metres, hurtling along at 90 km/h for a breathtaking aerial adventure! Your mouth already watering?
Here's how itall began:

After a brief stay in Gaul, where he met Asterix and Obelix, the magician Iris returned to Egyptian soil to create a temple to his glory! To further enhance his reputation, Iris casts a brand-new spell with his hypnotic gaze, enchanting visitors to fly and swirl like wild fowl...". By Osiris and Apis, will you dare to support Iris' unbearable gaze? "

Immediate boarding for an unusual flight through the air!
Willing and intrigued visitors are invited to pass through the temple doors to test the latest spell concocted by the man who has risen to the rank of demigod! Along the way, Egyptian frescoes, papyrus, sarcophagi and statues bearing the likeness of our Magus punctuate the visit, plunging sensation-hungry volunteers into a spellbinding and disquieting atmosphere. Once on the 2nd floor, welcome to the large boarding room: the lights are subdued, the music dramatic... now's the time to try out this explosive mix of hypnosis and collective levitation!

Then it's off for a sensational flight: 2 min 30 of letting go, 5 inversions with your feet in the void with an exclusive for the park:
