Fête nationale 2026 à Provins: fireworks postponed to December, the firefighters' ball on July 13 goes ahead

In Provins, Bastille Day 2026 celebrations kick off on Monday, July 13 with the traditional firefighters’ ball, held at the very heart of the medieval town in Seine-et-Marne. The fireworks display, by contrast, has been postponed to December 12, 2026 due to the heatwave and the restrictions laid out in a prefectural decree.

Heads up: due to a red heat alert, the town of Provins has decided to take precautionary measures by cancelling the fireworks scheduled for July 13, 2206, which have been moved to December 12. The firefighters' ball, however, will go ahead.

Each year, the national holiday draws curious crowds to a host of events staged on July 13 and 14 across France. In Provins—and in many Île-de-France towns—the firefighters’ balls, official ceremonies, and fireworks headline a popular celebration that commemorates both the storming of the Bastille in 1789 and the Fête de la Fédération in 1790.
