Better to check before you look up at the sky! In the Essonne, the weather could upend the fireworks planned for Bastille Day. Heat, ground too dry, risk of fire or safety guidelines: depending on the circumstances, some towns may carry on with the show, move it, postpone it, or cancel it. Decisions can sometimes come very late, for events scheduled on July 13 and 14, 2026.
Essonne: Fireworks and forests banned until July 15
Fireworks and access to woods and forests are banned in Essonne until July 15, 2026 inclusive. This marks the end of the July 13 and 14 festivities. Faced with an extremely high fire risk amid a heatwave, the prefecture has signed three orders to protect residents and the department’s natural spaces. [Read more]
This year, several municipalities may need to adjust their programs. Some prefer caution, while others must follow the measures taken by the prefecture. When the risk becomes too high, feux d’artifice launches can be limited or prohibited, especially near woods, fields, parks and natural spaces. It can also happen that towns wait for the latest forecasts before definitively confirming their display. This year, a arrêté préfectoral outright bans feux d’artifice in the department on the occasion of the 14 Juillet. The affected communes must therefore cancel or postpone their show.
To spare you a wasted trip, here is the list of fireworks cancellations in the Essonne for 14 July 2026. The list is updated as official announcements come in, but last‑minute changes can still occur. Note that the fireworks being canceled does not necessarily mean the events are canceled as well. We’ll stay on the lookout! Before you head out, be sure to check the city’s website or its social networks to confirm the show is still on.
